National Achievement Survey to be held on November 12 – Times of India

New Delhi: The next round of the National Achievement Survey (NAS) with an aim to assess the proficiency of students of class III, V, VIII and X will be conducted across the country on November 12 this year, according to the Union Education Ministry.

“The next round of NAS will be conducted across the country on November 12, 2021 to help assess learning interruptions and new learnings during the COVID-19 pandemic and help in taking remedial measures. Equipment development, testing, final Formulation of test items, sample of schools etc. has been done by NCERT. However, the actual administration of testing in sample schools will be done by CBSE in collaboration with the respective states/UTs,” according to a statement by the education ministry.

The Government of India is implementing a rolling program of sample-based National Achievement Survey (NAS) aimed at classes III, V, VIII and X with a cycle duration of three years.

The last National Achievement Survey (NAS) was conducted on 13 November 2017 to assess the competencies developed by children at the level of classes III, V and VIII.

The education ministry statement said that NAS 2021 will cover the entire spectrum of schools across the country, i.e. government schools (central government and state government), government aided schools and private schools.

It is expected that NAS 2021 will cover around 1.23 lakh schools and 38 lakh students in 733 districts across 36 states and union territories.

The examination will be conducted in Language, Mathematics and EVS for Classes three and five, Language, Mathematics, Science and Social Science for Class 8 and Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English for Class 10. The exam will be conducted in 22 mediums. Instructions covering Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Garo, Khasi, Konkani, Nepali, Bhutia and Lepcha.

For the smooth and fair conduct of the survey, 1,82,488 field investigators, 1,23,729 supervisors, 733 district-level coordinators and district nodal officers individually and 36 state nodal officers have been appointed in each state and union territory, the education ministry said. went.

1500 Board representatives have been deputed in the districts to oversee the overall functioning and ensure fair conduct of the survey. All personnel have been provided with comprehensive training regarding their roles and responsibilities.

A National Steering Committee has been constituted for the conduct of NAS under the chairmanship of Chairman, CBSE. A portal (https://nas.education.gov.in) has been launched to enable coordination with various key functionaries for smooth functioning of NAS 2021.

The education ministry said that state and district report cards for both primary and secondary levels for NAS 2021 will be issued and placed in the public domain.
