Government e-Marketplace (GeM) was launched on August 9, 2016 by the Ministry of Commerce to create an open and transparent procurement platform for Government buyers.

The platform is open for procurement by all government buyers – Central and State Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Enterprises, Autonomous Institutions and Local Bodies.

“Having an online platform it was possible for GeM to onboard sellers faster and to meet the huge requirements for an item that had no history of buying on such a scale. 4,159 vendors have registered on the GeM platform for the supply of flags.
