National Nutrition Week 2022: Date, Theme, History and Expert Tips for Balanced Nutrition

Nutrition is the cornerstone of a healthy body. That’s why we try to get as many nutrients as possible from our diet. National Nutrition Week is celebrated every year from 1st September to 7th September. It aims to promote the importance of a well-balanced diet, which is replete with all the essential nutrients our body needs for various functions and for the maintenance of our overall health. The week-long program is conducted by the Food and Nutrition Board of India under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

What is the theme of World Nutrition Week 2022:

National Nutrition Week each year focuses on a specific theme and addresses it with the launch of various programmes. Last year’s theme was ‘Feeding Smart Right from Start’ and this year’s theme is ‘Celebrate a World of Flavors’.

National Nutrition Week 2022 – History and Significance:

National Nutrition Week was established in the year 1975 by members of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. India started celebrating National Nutrition Week from the year 1982. The center is planning various activities to provide education on the importance of nutrition and general health improvement through a good diet.

Clinical nutritionist Dr. Ritika Sammadar shares, “One should get 10 to 35 percent of the daily calorie requirement through protein.
