While circumstances led to a break in his studies, he was determined and resumed his studies. He is facing trouble in getting his tribal certificate

Despite living under the shadow of violence with both her parents being active Naxalites, an 18-year-old girl from Abhujmad area of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district has achieved an extraordinary feat. According to a Times Now report, she passed Class 10 in Chhattisgarh state board exams with 54.5 per cent marks, demonstrating her focus on her studies while being away from her parents. The teenager is now determined to pursue a career in medicine and serve the tribal community of her native district.

Talking about her results, the girl said, “I am thrilled to clear my class 10 exams and aspire to become a doctor to serve the people of my village.”

The young girl started her education at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidya Mandir in Kutul village of Narayanpur. She went to Narayanpur city school for class 6 to class 8. Circumstances put a break in her studies, but she was determined. After a short break, she resumed her studies, staying with a relative. The teenager had to walk 2 km to attend her classes in the school.

His younger brother is currently studying in class 9 at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram School in Akabeda village.

While the teenager is thrilled with the results, she is facing difficulties in getting her tribal certificate. They suggest that the ST certificate will help them realize their dream of higher education with the help of government schemes.

The girl’s father is a commander in a Maoist group in Akabeda and Kutul areas of Abhujmad, while her mother, a lower-level cadre, is a former Naxalite who had earlier worked with them in Narayanpur. The couple reportedly has a cash reward on their heads.

The Abhujmad area has dense forests and hilly terrain, making it a safe haven for senior Naxalites and a suitable place to organize training camps for their cadres. However, the last few years have seen positive changes in this sector. Narayanpur Collector Ajit Vasant has directed the local authorities to provide all possible assistance to the young student in obtaining the necessary documents.

“The girl child will get the benefit of all government schemes related to education specially given to the people of protected tribes. If he needs more help, assistance will be provided to him,” he told the news portal.

The Collector has directed the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to obtain the necessary resolution from the Gram Sabha and ensure that the student receives all the necessary certificates.
