‘Need to empower women’, says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in his Vijayadashami address. India News – Times of India

Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat has strongly advocated women’s empowerment in the country, saying that men and women are equal in every aspect and respect, they have equal abilities and capabilities.
addressing to RSS volunteer on practice Vijayadashami Celebrated at the sprawling Reshambagh ground here on Wednesday, Bhagwat explained that women are treated as “jagat jananis (mothers of the universe)”, but at home they are treated as “slaves”. He said that empowerment of women should start from home and they should get their due place in the society.
Bhagwat underlined the importance of women’s role in realizing India’s dream of becoming a ‘Vishwa Guru’ (world leader) once again. “Equal participation of women is also necessary if we want to build Vishwa Guru India,” she said.
RSS chief speaking on women empowerment in front of his chief guest Padma Mr. Santosh YadavAn acclaimed mountaineer, who was invited for the Vijayadashami celebrations, was the first woman chief guest for such an event in the 97-year-old history of the RSS.
He reminded that this is not the first time that a woman was invited to an RSS function, the veteran Congress Leader and former Union Minister Amrita Kaur and first Lok Sabha member from Nagpur Anusubai Kale and others were also invited to the RSS functions.
Bhagwat said that India is rapidly recovering from the economic crisis due to Kovid and India’s role during the political crisis in Sri Lanka and also during the Ukraine war is commendable. “Our political weight in the world has increased because of these two situations,” Bhagwat said.
The RSS chief said that the dialogue with the members of minority communities will continue and it has been going on for years. Major Muslim leaders of the country have also condemned the violent incidents. “We are in favor of living in peace and harmony,” Bhagwat said.
