A few days before the medical entrance exam – NEET 2021 – news of an alleged paper leak is doing the rounds on social media. Twitter was flooded with reactions to an alleged medical college admissions scam. The report came to light after a TV news channel aired an episode on an investigation uncovering a mafia. However, none of the reports contain any question paper or proof claiming to be the question paper of the upcoming examination.

Notably, during the three-hour long broadcast, the network says it does not ‘verify’ the claims. When news18.com contacted the officials, they denied having received any such complaint and said that these were rumours. “It is fake. Students are advised not to believe such news,” the officials said, adding that there were no irregularities or breaches in the security systems.

Rumors could have been flying as NTA has recently re-issued the admit cards for NEET. NTA says that the revised admit cards were issued because some students were facing problem with the postcard images.

Also, a violation was reported at one of the JEE Main exam centres. A JEE Main exam center was allegedly hacked by a private coaching institute in the JEE scam. According to the CBI investigation, the hackers used to sit at a distant place and try to take the exam on behalf of the students. It was a working scam where coaching centers were demanding Rs 12 to 15 lakh per student.

Notably, NEET question paper was allegedly leaked in 2017 and five people were arrested in the case. According to a police investigation in 2017, the group of people used to promise admission to students in medical colleges under the medical quota.

The news comes after months of protests by a section of students demanding postponement of NEET. After the Supreme Court dismissed the petition to postpone the medical examination, now the examination will be held on September 12 as per the schedule. Officials said that there will be no delay in the examination.
