NEET 2022 AIR 3 Time-based preparation is the key to crack the medical entrance exam, says Hrishikesh

NEET 2022 topper from Karnataka, Hrishikesh Nagabhushan Gangule wanted to become a doctor since the age of 9. With an aim to serve the society, the youth has cleared one of the toughest exams. “By becoming a doctor, I feel that I can reach out to people from all sections of the society. I think I can make a big difference because people can contact me directly and I can be of great service. Apart from this, some of my relatives also inspired me to become a doctor,” said the 17-year-old.

The son of software engineers, Hrishikesh did his 10th and 12th from the National Center for Excellence School in Bangalore. He scored 98.6 percent in class 10 and 99.4 percent in class 12. His NEET journey started from class 11 with a two-year course at Aakash Byju’s.

Talking about NEET 2022 preparation, All India Rank 3 holder said, “I believe in regular study, learn concepts well. I used to read NCERTs, look at class notes and modules provided by teachers, and solve problems so as to strengthen the concepts. Whenever I had doubts I would contact my teachers and clarify them. I tried to finish one topic and move on to the next and do one thing at a time. ,

His preparation for medical admission was not time-based, but goal-based, says the 17-year-old. “I studied for about 8 hours but it was not fixed. I used to decide the chapter or topic and study on that basis. I used to tell myself that I have to complete a particular topic today and whether it takes 1 or 5 or 8 hours, I have to finish it today itself,” he explained.

“I had priorities. Class 12 is automatically covered if you prepare well for NEET. Class 12 had Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English as the main subjects and other subjects like maths or physical education. Therefore, there is no additional preparation for the boards. Curriculum and textbooks are the same CBSE 12th and NEET which is NCERT,” he concluded.

Hrishikesh also topped in NTSE

For Rishikesh, while the Covid-19 pandemic played out a bad game, it did not break their spirit.

“The exam was scheduled to be held in May 2020 but was finally conducted in February 2021 due to the pandemic. I continued preparation till July 2020 but later stopped preparing for some time as there was no sign of exam and instead I focused on NEET. I resumed NTSE preparation in December 2020 after the announcement of new exam dates. Ultimately I was selected for the scholarship,” he said.

He not only cracked NEET 2022 but also earned a scholarship by cracking another tough exam – NTSE. National Talent Search Examination is a national level scholarship program conducted by NCERT for class 10th students. He was preparing for NTSE from class 9 and qualified for stage 1 with second rank.
