NEET 2022 Application Closed Soon; Know the big changes of this year

application window for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 is going to close today. The NEET 2022 registration deadline was earlier set for May 6, but was deferred by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the request of the candidates. Students have to complete the application payment by 11:50 PM on May 15 to be eligible to appear in NEET 2022. A sharp increase in applications is expected after the government’s decision to hold entrance exams for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India. Scrap the upper age limit. NEET 2022 is on 17th July.

Apart from eliminating the age limit, NEET 2022 will also be conducted in the exam pattern along with several other changes. Here are some of the major changes introduced in NEET this year.

no upper age limit

The government has abolished the upper age limit for the applicants of NEET. Earlier, the upper age limit to appear for NEET was 25 years for general category students and 30 years for reserved categories. Removal of age limit is likely to increase applications, resulting in higher competition in medical entrance exams.

internal choice of questions

In the question of NEET 2022, candidates will have internal choices. Instead of 45 questions in each section- Zoology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics, they will be asked 50 questions each with an option to skip any 5. Options have been introduced to present. A cushion for aspirants after most school boards reduced their syllabus for the current academic year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. This exam pattern was first introduced last year.

Extended Exam Period

This year candidates will get an additional 20 minutes to complete the NEET UG exam. While the number of questions, 180, remains the same, the duration of NEET 2022 will be 200 minutes or 3 hours 20 minutes as compared to 3 hours last year.

NEET is usually conducted every year in May, but for the last two years the schedule has been disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical entrance exam was conducted in September last year but has been scheduled on July 17 this year. The pre-scheduled examination will ensure that there is no delay or reduction in academic activities.

private medical courses at government fee

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed private medical colleges to offer 50 per cent of their seats at the fees of government colleges in that particular state. The order will have to be compulsorily implemented by all private medical colleges in the country.

NTA will conduct NEET 2022 at exam centers in 543 cities as compared to 202 last year. In addition to this, the Government Testing Agency has also established 14 examination centers outside India.

NEET-UG Exam 2022 will be conducted on July 17, 2022 in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu and Urdu.
