IMD has declared orange alert in six districts due to heavy rains in Kerala. For the second day in a row. Strong westerly winds from the Arabian Sea and moving towards the southern peninsula have started the current phase. The government has set up a special control room to monitor the weather conditions. It has advised coastal fishermen not to put their boats in the sea. Emergency and disaster management forces are on standby for tidal waves, landslides and opening relief camps to revenue officials. The administration has declared forests, hill resorts and beaches off-limits for weekend vacationers and tourists.
