NEET counseling 2021 soon: 5 things to know before applying for medical colleges, from seat quota to last year’s cut-off

National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon start the counseling of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 for admission to undergraduate medical courses on the official website mcc.nic.in. The exam was conducted on September 12 and the results were released on November 1. Here are five things to know before applying for medical admission:

NEET 2021: Cut off percentile

For general category candidates, they need to score at least 50 percentile to clear NEET 2021. Whereas those belonging to SC, ST need to score 40 percentile and PWD candidates need to score 45 percentile. The central and state authorities will prepare a merit list based on the rank of the candidates for the medical colleges falling under their jurisdiction.

NEET 2021 Counselling: Center and State Quotas

Medical candidates who qualify for NEET can get admission in state quota seats or All India Quota (AIQ) in both government and private colleges. While 15% of the total medical and dental seats will be given under AIQ, the remaining 85% will be under state quota. The government has now approved the reservation 27% seats for OBC, 10% extra for EWS students The existing quota for STs is 7.5% and for SC students 15%.

NEET 2021 Counseling: Documents Required

The score to get admission in medical colleges across the country ranges from 138 to 720. Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks should keep their documents ready.

NEET 2021 counseling: Tamil Nadu government passes bill to cancel central medical examination

If centralized medical entrance exams continue, there may not be enough specialist doctors to be employed in government hospitals, according to a 165-page report set up by the Tamil Nadu government to study the socio-economic impact of NEET. Justice AK Rajan committee was constituted. ,
