NEET PG Counselling 2023 Stray Vacancy Round: Who Can Apply?

Candidates who do not hold a seat in MCC or state counselling are eligible for this round. Candidates who were allotted a seat in the third round are considered ineligible for the stray vacancy round. According to the commission, candidates who have joined any seat through state counselling will not be able to take part in the stray vacancy round of All India NEET PG counselling 2023.

Further, as per MCC, candidates who have not occupied a seat in any of the previous rounds of counselling conducted by MCC or through state quota counselling are ‘eligible’ to participate in the stray vacancy round of PG counselling in 2023. Candidates who receive a seat in round three of postgraduate counselling but do not accept it are not eligible to take part in the stray vacancy round.

MCC reduced the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to ‘zero’ prior to the round 3 counselling process. The decision to reduce the qualifying criteria to zero was made to ensure that no PG medical seat goes vacant, MCC had said. Out of around 70,000 seats, almost 2000 to 3000 PG medical seats go vacant every year. The last date to apply for the round 3 counselling was Sept 25. The round 3 seat allotment result was announced on Sept 28 and candidates had to report to the colleges between Sept 29 and October 6.
