Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-Under-Graduate (UG) counseling for medical admission will begin from January 19.
“Dear Students, Counseling for NEET-UG is being started by MCC from 19th January. You all are the future of the nation and I hope you all will give a new direction to your career with the mantra ‘Seva is Dharma Hai’. I wish all the best.’
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) which conducts the counseling has released the NEET UG counseling schedule.
Why the delay in NEET UG counseling schedule?
MCC conducts NEET counseling for 15% seats across the country for medical students. The MCC has said that the counseling process was stalled due to the ongoing case in the Supreme Court regarding the validity of the EWS quota.
However, the Center has introduced 27% reservation for OBC and 10% for EWS candidates. This will be applicable for both UG and PG courses.

The exam was conducted on 12 September and the provisional answer key was released on 15 October. Around 16 lakh students had appeared in the examination.
Earlier, Mandaviya had announced that the NEET-PG counseling for medical admission would begin from Wednesday.
Mandaviya tweeted, “As per the assurance given by the Ministry of Health to the residential doctors, NEET-PG counseling will be started by the Medical Counseling Committee from January 12, 2022 after the order of the Supreme Court.”
