The photo showed a bowl of sarson ka saag, which was accompanied by a well-cooked “Makki Di Roti”. This picture was enough to trigger our craving for this tempting Punjabi feast.

How to make Sarson Ka Saag:

Ingredients for Greens:

Mustard greens: 750 grams

Spinach greens: 250 grams

Bathua greens: 250 grams

Water: 2 cups with a pinch of salt

Corn flour: 1 cups

Green chilies: 4

Ginger: 25 grams

Onions: 2

Garlic buds: 6

Ghee: 100 grams

Red chili powder: tsp

Garam Masala: tsp

Coriander Powder: tsp

method:

Step1: Put three greens, salted water in the pressure cooker. Cook on low flame for 1 1/2 hours.

Step 2: Drain the remaining water from the cooker and keep it aside. Now, coarsely grind the greens in the cooker, add corn flour and mix.

Step 3: Water the Greens and Put Back Some of the Fresh Water.

Step 4: Add green chili, ginger and cook till the greens become thick.

Step 5. For your tempering, take a pan and add chopped onion, ginger, garlic, red chili powder; garam masala, and coriander powder. Now fry the onion till it turns light brown.

Step 6. Empty the roasted onions into the greens and garnish with ginger julienne fried in ghee.

How to make Makki ki Roti:

Ingredients for Makki Roti:

Maize flour: kg

water (for kneading)

Ghee for frying)

method:

Step 1: Knead the corn dough until it becomes a ball. Put the flour to dry and knead the dough.

Step 2: After this you heat the tawa. Coat it with some ghee.

Step 3. Make round shape of makki roti. Carefully put them in the pan.

Step 4. Cook till golden brown.

Step 5. Serve hot with sarson da saag.
