Nuwakot:

Power generation at a hydro-electric plant in Nuwakot, Nepal, has come to a standstill after a man climbed on a power transmission line and stuck on it.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) was forced to shut down the power project and power supply of Upper Trishuli 3A hydel station line after a man climbed on the transmission line in Nuwakot.

Upper Trishuli 3A Hydel Station has a capacity of 60 MW.

The person has been identified by the local police as Mala BK of Ghalegaon, Belkotgarhi Municipality-13 in Nuwakot district.

Spokesperson Suresh Bhattarai confirmed to ANI over phone, “The BK is connected to the transmission wires after 10 am (NST), so we have cut the power supply.”

According to an NEA official, the country has suffered an average loss of around 10 lakh Nepalese rupees due to the disruption in power supply.

Meanwhile, the Energy Minister, Pampha Bhusal, has also appealed to the Nepal Army to deploy a helicopter to take the person down the transmission line and prevent further damage.
