Elena Ferrante’s novel The Living Life of Adults has been adapted into a six-episode series. The trailer for the streaming show was unveiled on Tuesday by Netflix, which has set its premiere date as January 4, 2023.

As Variety reports, “Living Life”, directed by Destiny’s assistant Edoardo de Angelis, stars Valeria Golino as the story’s young protagonist, the enigmatic Destiny aunt named Giovanna, played by newcomer Giordana Marengo. Is.

Ferrante’s book depicts Giovanna’s transition from childhood to adolescence in Naples during the 1990s that are actually two kinds of cities that fear and despise each other: the upper-crust Naples of the high quarters, the masks of refinement. and Naples in its more vulgar and exciting lowlands, where his interesting Aunt Vittoria lives.

According to Variety, Giovanna swings between these two sides of town, neither answering nor running away. Alessandro Preziosi played Giovanna’s father, Andrea, while Pina Turco played his mother, Nella.

Speaking about “Lying Life” at a Netflix Slate presentation earlier this year, the streamer’s VP of Italian original series Eleonora Andreata noted that comparisons to “My Brilliant Friend” began in the 1990s. It has very different characteristics, the time period in which ‘Living Life’ is set.

Andretta also highlighted that de Angelis, who made a splash internationally in 2016 with “Invisible”, a drama about the twin sisters of Neapolitan teens, has put her uniquely dreamy but quirky stamp on the show. .

De Angelis co-wrote the show with Laura Paolucci and Francesco Piccolo – both of whom wrote “My Brilliant Friend” – as well as Ferrante. The new Ferrante adaptation is being produced for Netflix by Domenico Procassi’s Fandango.
