Network18 launches #ItsNotOK campaign. Joins hands with Truecaller to spread awareness about female harassment through

India’s largest news network, Network18 has partnered with Truecaller to launch the #ItsNotOk campaign, to raise awareness about why it is important for women to ‘call it out’ on issues of harassment, society Leads the conversation on how it can enable a secure digital environment for them.

The campaign #ItsNotOK will be launched on International Women’s Day, 8 March 2022 and will bring together key social stakeholders of society to encourage women to bring about change and take action against oppression.

A survey conducted by Truecaller reveals that 1 in 3 women in India receive sexually inappropriate calls or messages and 8 out of 10 women receive harassment and nuisance calls. While most women block these callers or phone numbers on Truecaller, very few report their harassers to the authorities and the rest remain silent.

The campaign, #ItsNotOk, believes that policy makers, social support systems and media platforms have a collective responsibility to stop female harassment in our country. The main focus of the campaign will be on what women can do in individual capacity and what our society can do collectively to reduce oppression of women.

This initiative will bring together all stakeholders including state police, NGOs, counsellors, legal aid and government representatives so that we as a society can work together for a safer environment where women feel empowered.

In this campaign, the Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai will address the main session. On the other hand, Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women (NCW), and Nami Zarringhalam, Co-Founder of Truecaller, will be part of Network18’s streamathon on Facebook and Twitter, where they will share their views on how women can stop harassment.

Many influential people from different fields including Jwala Gutta, PV Sindhu, Aditi Rao Hydari and Neeti Palta will also participate in this campaign. While Jwala Gutta will be a part of the Streamathon, Tweetathon and Twitter Space activity on March 8. PV Sindhu and Aditi Rao Hydari will also be a part of an Insta Live session, while Niti Palta will be a part of the Tweetathon and join the Twitter space. The Twitter Spaces will be hosted on the handles News18 India, CNN-News18 and News18 Gujarati.

Social activist Ranjana Kumar, Special Commissioner Shalini Singh, DCP KPS ​​Malhotra, Psychiatrist Dr Anjali Chhabria, Yogita Bhayana of PARI Foundation, Aaliya Waziri, Advocate for Cyber ​​Peace Foundation, Vineet Kumar, UN Women’s Representative for India Susan Ferguson will also join the discussion. . To talk about various aspects of women’s harassment including trauma, counselling, legal remedies and policing initiatives.

Event lineup for March 8

On March 8, the campaign will kick off with a streamathon with a Women’s Day special on Network18’s social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

The campaign will see discussions, suggestions and interactions between influencers and panelists on Instagram Live.

A tweetathon will be held between 5 pm and 6 pm to highlight the targeted harassment that women face online and in the real world. The network18 handle will initiate a conversation on Twitter and tag the guests. Responding, guests will be asked to tag inspiring women who have taken a stand against harassment in their eyes and said #ItsNotOk.

A 30-minute Twitter space will be conducted with Network18’s team of national and regional anchors conducting an interactive discussion with panelists from across regions.
