A 40-minute animated documentary film that asks children to identify their ‘superheroes’ (their talents) is the vision of Coimbatore-based neuro-linguistic programming trainer Manoj Chanthamaraskan. Their Superhero Project – The Quest to Find Your Superpower is an interactive way to focus young minds self-reflect and discover their intelligence. This has earned him the International Sustainable Academy (ISA) Fellowship, a nine-month education training program in Germany, sponsored by the United Nations. The program, funded by the German government and the United Nations, is a collaborative fellowship where people from developing countries can find solutions in Germany and implement the model in their respective countries.

Manoj, who is also an author of self-help books, will join 13 fellows selected from countries such as Tunisia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Georgia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Jamaica and the Philippines, among others, who will come together in Hamburg to search for sustainable Come Solutions to some of the biggest challenges on planet Earth. The United Nations has classified the world’s problems into 17 buckets as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Quality education is at number four. “The aim is to make a significant contribution to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” says Manoj, one of the two fellows selected from India.

The team conducts research on topics related to sustainable agriculture, the environment and global warming such as hydroponics, water pollution, urban planning, flood reduction, health care and climate change, to name a few. “Did you know that each person has a unique intelligence and some of us thrive in learning environments while others struggle?” Manoj asks that there are eight different categories that cover visual, logical, musical, linguistic, verbal, interpersonal and interpersonal intelligence.

sustainability goals

His project is divided into two goals – making documentary and creative magazine. “It’s a permanent project because of the digital format, and it’s not bound by demographics or time.”

Manoj, who is honing his skills in German and preparing to take the plunge, will visit schools in Hamburg and Finland that have already adopted the model and made a positive difference. “Once I come back in March 2023, the film will be released on YouTube and the magazine will also be published. I plan to interact more with children and help them identify their unique talents. My film features children as superheroes and will have a strong emotional connect.
