Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Ramvriksha Sada, who is also the poorest MLA in the Bihar Assembly, was recently allotted a government residence in Patna.

The MLA, who became an MLA for the first time, got emotional after getting the key of the house from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The MLA’s video has gone viral on social media.

I am the poorest MLA of Bihar. Whenever a poor gets something, it is Diwali for him. Now that the Chief Minister has given me the keys of my house, the house I am seeing, I had never even dreamed of in my life, so I am getting emotional,” Ramvriksha Sada said in the viral video.

“I come from the Musahar caste. Lalu Prasad Yadav made me leader and MLA.

A report in The Indian Express said that the Alauli MLA still lives in a two-room house in his village Raun in Khagaria, which was built in 2004 under the Indira Awas Yojana.

The MLA, who belongs to the Scheduled Castes, was allotted the keys of a three-storey residence on Patna’s Bir Chand Patel Path during a program which was also attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Sada was among the eight MLAs who got possession of their houses under the Bihar government’s housing project for its MLAs.

Reports said that during the event the MLA was seen touching CM Nitish Kumar’s feet and saying that getting a house to a poor person is “no less than Diwali”.

The 47-year-old Ramvriksha Sada of five sons and a daughter lived in a Tang village house in a joint family of 12 members.

“I decided to join politics in 1995. At that time, I worked at a brick kiln. I had gone to meet Lalu Prasad (RJD President) during an election campaign program. I unsuccessfully contested on RJD ticket against Pashupati Kumar Paras in 2000 and 2005 and finally made it in 2020,” Saada told The Indian Express.

According to his election affidavit in 2020, Sada had assets worth Rs 70,000, out of which Rs 25,000 was in cash while Rs 5,000 in cash belonged to his wife. He also had an agricultural plot worth Rs 10,000.
