New 2022 Mahindra Scorpio (Z101) pictures leaked: Flaunts beefy, muscular design – Times of India

Mahindra has been testing the upcoming Scorpio (Z101) on Indian roads for quite some time now. Just a few days back Mahindra released a teaser video revealing some details of the SUV’s headlight, side profile and rear-left corner, and now spy images of the SUV have surfaced online revealing the full design.

According to the teased images, the overall design of the SUV looks quite muscular. At the front, Mahindra has kept its vertical grille design which expands to become the double-barrel headlamp. The front bumper also gets a honeycomb pattern grille along with fog lamps along with C-shaped LED DRLs at the bottom of the front bumper. The one confusing part here is that the model seen here wears the old Mahindra badge, while the ‘Twin Peaks’ that was teased a few days back wears the Mahindra logo, as seen on the XUV700.

Moving to the sides, the new Scorpio gets a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, which are likely to be 17-inches, and a chrome beltline with a slight rake from the C-pillar.

At the rear, the 2022 Scorpio gets vertically mounted tail lamps and side-opening tailgate. The rear bumper has a fairly flatter profile similar to the outgoing model. Also, the reverse lights of the SUV have been placed at the end of the bumper with a wrap-around chrome strip.

Coming to the interiors, the interiors will also be all-new and are expected to feature a much larger touchscreen, vertically placed AC vents and some interior elements shared with the XUV700.
Powertrain Options
2022 Mahindra Scorpio It is expected to come with both petrol and diesel engine options. While the engines will be shared with the XUV700, it may get a different tune with a lower power output.
Like the XUV 700, the diesel variant of the Mahindra Scorpio is also expected to come with two output options. A 6-speed manual will be standard while a 6-speed torque converter automatic will be available for both petrol and diesel. Also, an AWD or 4×4 will be offered with a lower-range option on some variants of the new Scorpio.
When launched, the Mahindra Scorpio will compete with the Tata Safari, MG Hector and Hyundai Alcazar. The new SUV will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan plant. The XUV700 should be priced between Rs 12 to 19 lakhs (ex-showroom).
