New Afghanistan government to be announced soon, says Taliban: report

A Taliban spokesman said the government in Afghanistan would be announced soon.

Kabul:

Taliban spokesman Ahmadullah Muttaki said on Tuesday that preparations had been completed to announce the formation of a new government in Afghanistan.

Earlier, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the decision-making process on the formation of a new Afghan government had been completed, with technical issues remaining, the Russian news agency reported.

It further informed that according to the Taliban spokesperson, the government in Afghanistan would be announced soon.

Meanwhile, there have been conflicting reports of Panjshr, the last Afghan province under Taliban control, as the National Resistance Forces (NRF) rejected the claim. On 15 August, the Taliban entered Kabul, causing the fall of the US-backed civilian government.

The Taliban said on Sunday that a new Afghan government was expected to be announced soon and would be “an inclusive government”. However, the Taliban has been delaying the announcement of government formation in Afghanistan for the past few days.

Although the group has yet to issue a statement on this, reports have claimed that the government’s formation has been delayed due to differences between the Taliban and the Haqqani network over power-sharing.
