Apple may be considering using a new type of material for its upcoming watches. A recent patent prompts the company to use a highly durable and chemical-resistant material, which it calls a “zirconia-based ceramic material,” in future iPhones and Apple Watch variants, according to a Forbes report based on the patent. The patent is titled “Electronic Devices with Textured Zirconia-Based Components”. According to Apple, the inclusion of this material in the design “will result in a matte appearance on the outer surface of the electronic device.
