New Maruti Suzuki Baleno-based coupe SUV spied: Production version of Futuro-E concept – Times of India

maruti suzuki This year is indeed on a roll, with many new product launches already in various segments. The carmaker is also venturing into some new segments in the market, including the mid-size SUV space, which Maruti Suzuki will enter soon with the launch of the Grand Vitara.
Now it looks like Maruti Suzuki is going to enter another new segment. The carmaker is working on a new coupe crossover SUV, which is likely to be based on baleno Hatchback (codenamed internally.) ytb), and it looks like the company may launch the new car at the 2023 Auto Expo next year. baleno cross (not yet officially named) is essentially a production version of futuro-e concept Exhibited at the 2020 Auto Expo. Coming to the test mule, it looks much longer than the hatch on which it is based. The car gets squared-off wheel arches with plastic body cladding. The alloy wheel design is also new, but we expect it to be similar in size, i.e. 16-inches. The coupe SUV prototype features a sloping rear windscreen, which is linked to a flat tailgate.
The car also gets a chunky spoiler and shark fin antenna at the rear. Moving forward, not much is visible other than the main headlamp unit taking out camouflage, and what appears to be LED DRLs, have been placed at the bottom of the front bumper. According to the latest rumours, Maruti Suzuki may name this new car ‘Baleno Cross’.

The Baleno-based crossover/SUV will be positioned right above the Baleno in the company’s portfolio, and will serve as a direct competitor to the likes of the Nissan Magnite, and the Renault Keger. It is expected to be based on the Heartect platform similar to the premium hatchback. The new car will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s premium Nexa dealership.
