New Mercedes EQS SUV Interiors Revealed Ahead of Debut

The cabin design and layout of the EQS SUV is in line with its sedan sibling but with a third row of seating.

Mercedes-Benz reveals the interiors of the new EQS SUV ahead of the model Global debut on April 19, Previewed last year by the Maybach EQS SUV concept, the new EQS will be the company’s flagship electric SUV in the rapidly expanding range of all-electric models being launched globally by the German carmaker. While Mercedes will reveal all the details tomorrow, the cabin images of the EQS SUV reveal a familiar design with the most notable difference being the third row of seating.

Like the EQS sedan, the SUV also gets a massive curved hyperscreen that includes a central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and co-driver touchscreen. The entire unit is wrapped in ambient lighting with slim central air vents above the display and circular vents integrated into the unit on either side. As with the EQS, the cabin has wooden inserts, though here they feature smaller three-pointed star motifs. As one would expect, the front seats are power-adjustable, feature headrest pillows, memory functions and separate climate zones.

The second row gets a rear seat entertainment screen, different climate zones and a flat floor.

In the middle row, the bench seats come with pillow headrests for side sitters, a collapsible center headrest, separate climate zones and rear-seat entertainment displays. The outer seats seem to get electric adjustability, with the one-touch electric fold function also helping reach the third row of seats. The mid-row bench also gets a tablet-like touchscreen within the fold-down center armrest. The images also reveal a third row of seats – the headrests are visible behind the second row bench seat – although there is little to tell the amount of space available from a visible angle. A panoramic sunroof is also visible in the images.

The EQS SUV has three rows of seating.

While we wait for all the details, expect the EQS SUV to pack in similar equipment as the EQS and the powertrain is also likely to be similar. Like the EQS sedan, one can expect a standard and AMG version of the all-electric SUV to be available in the future, with last year’s concept also suggesting that a Maybach model could also be in the works.
