In what can be considered as a New Year gift, the Odisha government on Friday announced a hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for all state government employees under the Seventh Pay Commission.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a 4% hike in DA. According to an official notice, the hike will be effective from July 1, 2022.

With the latest revision, the rate of DA and DR is now 38 per cent. This is the second hike in DA this year. In September, the state government had announced a three per cent hike in DA and DR for state government employees and pensioners.

Earlier in the year, states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana had announced similar hikes for all state employees. The Haryana government on October 18 announced an increase in dearness allowance for its employees from the current 34 per cent to 38 per cent with effect from July 1, 2022. read more

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had increased the dearness allowance for its employees and pensioners. UP CM Yogi Adityanath had announced to increase the dearness allowance and dearness relief of its employees and pensioners from 34 per cent at present to 38 per cent with effect from July 1, 2022. ,
