NGT restrains Tangedco from building pipeline at Kosthalaiyar without environmental clearance

The applicant had moved the tribunal against TANGEDCO stating that it had illegally constructed and constructed a part of the ash pipeline for its new project without clearance, environment and CRZ clearance. “TANGEDCO is directed not to proceed with the work of laying the pipeline through CRZ zone as well as in other area in violation of the environment clearance granted to them in 2016 and CRZ clearance, by filing necessary further clearances in this regard. The bench directed TANGEDCO to replace the old pipelines within the time limit prescribed by the tribunal and to implement in letter and spirit the recommendations made by the joint committee appointed by the NGT to avoid future infringement of fly ash in the river area.
