The National Health Authority (NHA) has issued a consultation paper on the drug registry. Envisioned under the ambitious Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the registry aims to be a single, up-to-date, centralized repository of all medicines across all systems of medicine, which are approved and available in the Indian market. The drug registry application is proposed to be designed using open-source technologies and would be interoperable. The Ministry noted that the consultation paper focused only on the Registry within the National Digital Health Ecosystem and provides the NHA’s current vision on the functionality of the proposed Registry, its creation process and the potential benefits to various ecosystem stakeholders.
