Nitin Gadkari launches ‘Intelligent Transport System’ on Delhi Expressway

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday inaugurated an intelligent transport system on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near Delhi to ease traffic problems and enhance the safety of passengers.

Shri Gadkari said that India needs to improve its road engineering as every year around 1.5 lakh people die in 5 lakh accidents across the country.

“It is a great event in the history of Indian infrastructure (development),” the Minister of Road Transport and Highways said at the inauguration of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS).

He said that intelligent transport system is a revolutionary state-of-the-art technology that can be achieved by mitigating traffic problems, promoting the use of efficient infrastructure, enriching users with prior information about traffic and reducing travel time- It will also achieve traffic efficiency by enhancing safety and comfort. of passengers.

The intelligent transport system can detect any accident and receive alerts to ensure that the ambulance reaches the spot within 10-15 minutes.

He said the speed limit for cars on the 135-km expressway near Delhi is 120 km per hour, while the road ministry is working on revising the speed limit for different categories of vehicles.
