“Nitish Kumar will continue to serve the people of Bihar as he is not going anywhere. He is not even a candidate for the presidential election,” Singh said while answering questions from the media during a party event in Lakhisarai, which is part of his Munger parliamentary constituency. Singh has been visiting different parts of his Munger parliamentary constituency for the last two days. Singh also said that the picture of the presidential election will become clear after the notification is issued.
Speculation about Nitish being projected as a candidate for the presidential election got a new impetus on Thursday when state Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar said that the Bihar CM has all the qualities to hold the post of President of India.
“Being a Bihari, I wish Nitish Kumar to become the President of India. He has brought the very backward Bihar back on track and if he is given a chance to work as the President of India, he will try his best to bring the country forward in the world. and the chief minister’s home district Nalanda said on Thursday. Shravan, however, had also said that Nitish was not in the race for the post of President.
Earlier in February this year, when a section of the media projected Nitish as a possible candidate of the opposition parties for the presidential election, he himself dismissed these speculations, saying, “I do not wish to become the President of India.” So there is no desire nor aspiration.”
