‘No AC, no food!’ Biman Bangladesh plane stuck at Kolkata airport for 4 hours

A Dhaka-bound Bangladesh flight was delayed by 4 hours at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, with 150 passengers stuck inside the plane without AC and food. According to a flight tracking website, the plane was supposed to take off from Kolkata airport at 20:35 but was delayed by at least 4 hours, finally taking off at 00:37. The flight landed at Dhaka International Airport at 1:33 pm.

According to a report, passengers shared their ordeal after arriving at the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. In an interview to a local webiste, the national flag carrier’s managing director and CEO Zahid Hussain said that 150 passengers were not allowed to disembark by airport authorities.

He said that usually if flights are delayed by an hour or two, airlines drop passengers as AC is not running at this time to save fuel. However, the Kolkata airport authority did not allow the Bangladesh crew and the passengers were stuck inside the aircraft without AC and food.

The report further mentioned that the aircraft was delayed due to a technical snag and the aircraft was called off for repairs.
