No electricity on Holi and Diwali in SP government, always on Eid and Muharram: Yogi

Attacking the Samajwadi Party, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday claimed that the Akhilesh Yadav government did not provide electricity to people on Holi and Diwali, but there was always electricity on Eid and Muharram. “But there is no discrimination against us (in power),” he said at an election rally.

He asked the people whether they wanted a “majboor” (helpless) government like the previous government led by Yadav or a “majboot” (strong) government run by the BJP. “A government that is ‘dangawadi’ or a government that has made the state ‘dung-free’.” Addressing an election meeting at Ramnagar in Barabanki, he said, “It is for you to decide what kind of government you want which creates fear or which destroys fear. You want a government that exploits the poor.” Or want a government. Which connects the poor with the schemes of the government.” He said that only BJP government works for every section of the society, be it poor, women, youth, traders, villagers or farmers. Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party, he said that before the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh, riots, curfew and exodus of local people were common occurrences.

“The previous government played with the faith of the people and crushed their religious sentiments. Earlier Kanwar Yatras were stopped and Durga idol immersion was not allowed. Now there is Kanwar Yatra amid the slogan ‘Har Har Bam Bam’ No one dares to stop a Kanwar Yatra. This gives you a picture of a new Uttar Pradesh,” Adityanath said. He said the double engine BJP governments in the state and at the Center were distributing free ration to the poor which was “not possible” during the SP and BSP governments.

“Had SP been there, his henchmen would have sold ration. Before 2017 SP goons used to drink ration for the poor. BSP’s elephant (that party’s election symbol) has a stomach so big that it can eat the entire state’s ration,” he said. He said, “In the next five years, the BJP will work to connect one member of every family to the job, employment or self-employment scheme.”

Addressing another meeting in Bahraich, the Chief Minister said that earlier the development money used to go to the ‘Itra Wala Mitra’ of the Samajwadi Party. During their political rallies, both the BJP and the SP have been accusing perfume traders of income tax raids. “There were potholes on the roads, no medical colleges were built. There was no development. If we form the government again, we will work on providing free power supply to the annadata (farmers),” the chief minister said.

He also said that the bulldozer works for both development and mafia. “We have made a machine that builds highways as well as roads and digs out illegal money from the wall.” ,
