Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the Kerala gold smuggling case, appeared before the crime branch officials at the police club for questioning in the conspiracy case registered against her on the complaint of CPIM MLA and former minister KT Jalil.
Swapna Suresh said, “I have no fear of arrest. I did nothing to fear. It is a fake case, which was charged overnight. It was initially bailable but later made non-bailable.” Gone. Let me face it.”
Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police has registered a case against Ms Swapna on June 8 this year on a complaint by Jaleel, seeking a probe into the allegations leveled against her by Ms Swapna in a gold smuggling case and alleging that she had conspired Rachi and made defamatory statements against him.
The police have registered a case against him under sections 153 (abetment with intent to cause riot) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Earlier this week, she evaded questioning when the Crime Branch issued a notice explaining the reason for the ED’s questioning in the gold smuggling case.
Prime accused in the gold smuggling case Swapna Suresh on Wednesday said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had lied in the Assembly on Tuesday and urged them to release the CCTV footage of the Cliff House and Secretariat in view of the probe into the matter.
“Yesterday Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan spoke a lot in the assembly. It came to my notice that he had told a lot of lies to mislead the public by standing at a very holy place,” Ms. Suresh told reporters today. ,
He further said, “The Chief Minister said that he has often seen me with the Consul General. There is no MEA approval for such meetings. All these meetings were facilitated by his point of contact, i.e. Shivshankar. All these meetings are against protocol.”
He demanded the Chief Minister to release the CCTV footage of the Cliff House (the official residence of Kerala CM) and the Secretariat from 2016 to 2020.
“After 7 p.m. with the consul general, I went to Cliff House for secret meetings for his needs. Also, I went there alone before. You can see in the scenes that there’s no security check for me. It was. Go there. It is not ethical to mislead people by standing in the assembly, like saying that you don’t know Swapna Suresh,” alleged Ms. Swapna.
In the assembly on Tuesday, Vijayan said that Swapna is a person who is accused of gold smuggling and other cases and the Congress-led opposition is taking her words as the ultimate truth and using them here.
He also referred to him as someone who is now being guided by the forces of the Sangh Parivar.
Ms Swapna earlier this month testified before a magistrate under section 164(5) where she claimed that Vijayan and his wife and their daughter Veena had smuggled currency into the UAE.
Ms Swapna said that it was she who facilitated several meetings with the Consul General of the UAE at the Chief Minister’s residence which was against all protocols as permission was not taken from the Ministry of External Affairs.
