The BCCI recently announced the appointment of its treasurer Ashish Shelar as the observer of the JKCA, although it did not specify the reason for the move.

From June 2021, the JKCA is being managed by a three-member sub-committee appointed by the BCCI.

“There is no financial irregularity in JKCA. The sub-committee has ensured not only financial ownership but also financial prudence,” Gupta told PTI.

Gupta said that there were some issues with the cricket body in the past but ever since the sub-committee has been entrusted with the task of managing the association, things have changed for the better.

“The accounts of JKCA were not audited since 2011. The sub-committee has audited all the accounts since 2011 and submitted to BCCI along with the balance sheet. The audit for the financial year 2021-22 has also been submitted.

“JKCA was not filing ITR and not submitting mandatory GST and TDS. All such compliances are now being done under the supervision of the sub-committee.

“In fact, now the funds received from BCCI are duly audited and the utilization certificate is signed by the auditor assigned to BCCI by the sub-committee. All transactions are done in a transparent and fair manner. No discrepancy has ever been reported,” he said.
