The heavy rains that lashed Bengaluru on November 18 are unlikely to bring relief to the citizens. The India Meteorological Department, which has issued a yellow alert for the city for November 19, has attributed the rains to developing into a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

Till 8.30 pm on November 18, the city recorded 37 mm and HAL 39.2 mm. The IMD had also issued an orange alert for the day. According to @bnglrweatherman, this month is already the warmest November in the past six years, with the city receiving 115.8 mm of rain (as of November 14th).

The BBMP control rooms received complaints of falling trees from Thanisandra Main Road and 28th Cross in Banashankari Phase II, among other areas. Residents of New Byppanahalli, Cambridge Layout, CMR College at Banaswadi and Nagawara-KEB Junction on Ring Road reported water-logging and flooding.

Schools in Bengaluru Urban will remain closed on Friday as a precaution. However, many private schools will continue with online classes.

The temperature has dropped due to the rain. According to the local weather report for Bengaluru, the maximum temperature stood at 21.6 degrees Celsius, which was a (negative) 5 degrees Celsius above normal on Thursday.
