Europe’s medicine watchdog chief said on Tuesday there is “no answer” as to whether vaccine makers will have to adapt their COVID shots to combat the rapidly spreading Omicron variant.
Emir Cook, director of the European Medicines Agency, said: “I must stress that whether we will need an adaptive vaccine with a different structure to deal with this (Omicron) or some other form, it is yet to be ascertained. There’s no answer.”
