Noida: 3,000 flats in this sector, but no parks. Noida News – Times of India

Noida: Residents live comfortably in their gated apartment complexes with space inside their flats, power backup and other amenities. But stepping outside for a walk, or going to a park is not an option.
Reason – 4 to 5 large societies having about 3,000 flats in the sector have no parks and few green parts.
Several landlords and residents said that they have been living in Sector 107 of Noida for a decade. The plots seem to be lying vacant at present, but no steps have been taken to develop any area into a park or a green belt. To make the situation worse, the drains are lying open, the foul smell is preventing them from walking on the roads.
“There are around 3,000 apartments in this area and another 2,500-3,000 are to be added in the coming years as some projects are under construction. This makes 107 one of the areas with high population density with more than 2,000 residents already living. But we don’t have any park. Children and adults are confined to apartment complexes only,” said Anubhav Gupta resident of Lotus 300.
“I have been living here for about 10 years. Surely some land would have been reserved at least for making parks etc., otherwise it would have been sold to a builder by now. Why doesn’t the authority develop it instead of giving it up? doing,” he said.
when asked, Noida AuthorityOfficer on Special Duty (OSD) Indu Prakash told TOI that there are currently no plans to develop a park in the area, but the civic body will inspect the open space pointed out by residents for future development. He was referring to a vacant piece of land bordering the Lotus 300, which residents say is vacant and comes under authority.
Other homeowners said they had to live with the stench of open drains.
“There are several drains which are missing…the residents are having breathing problems. Many times stray animals and even people have fallen in these drains. These are also places for breeding of mosquitoes,” said Gupta.
Ajay Durrani, vice-president, Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of Lotus 300, said that the Noida authority needs to focus on improving cleanliness in the area apart from green spaces for the residents. “Sector 107 needs a good park so that residents can enjoy nature and a dedicated play area for children. Open drains need to be covered as it is a health problem. During the rainy season, all these open drains become breeding ground for mosquitoes like malaria, dengue etc,” Durani said.
“We have also raised these issues to the Noida Authority and the UP government through Twitter, but no action has been taken.”
On the issue of drain, Noida Authority Deputy General Manager (Water and Sewer) RP Singh said that the Public Health Department has been instructed to install drain covers on priority basis.
