Noida Metro sets new record, crosses 40,000 daily ridership for the first time

The Noida-Greater Noida Metro has witnessed its highest ever single-day ride of 40,295 passengers since commencing operations in January 2019. According to the representatives of Noida Metro, this achievement happened on August 8, the second Monday of the month. Rail Corporation (NMRC). In the past few months, use of the Metro, which connects the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar next to Delhi, has increased.

Ritu Maheshwari, Managing Director, NMRC said, “On Monday, 40,295 passengers traveled on the Aqua Line. The second highest single-day ridership till date was 39,451 on September 19, 2019.”

According to NMRC data, the daily average ridership in March this year was 23,266, while it was 26,162 in April, 29,089 in May, 30,366 in June and 32,202 in July. Maheshwari said that NMRC is making several efforts to provide better services to the passengers.

“Recently, NMRC has issued an expression of interest for providing last-mile connectivity to passengers. The last date for submission of EOI is August 18,” she said. A foot overbridge is also under construction to connect Sector 51 (Aqua Line) and Sector 52 (Blue Line) metro stations.

“The tenders for the FOB between Sector-51 (NMRC) and Sector-52 (DMRC) are expected to start soon,” the IAS officer said. The Aqua Line runs over 29.7 km between Noida Sector 51 and Depot Station in Greater Noida via 21 stations. It was built for Rs 5,503 crore and was opened to the public in January 2019.
