Traders expect sales of Rs 1,000-1,200 crore and said there is a demand for gold and silver jewelery along with electronic items

NOIDA: Traders in Sector 18, one of the main market areas of the city, said that they expect good business around Diwali and the sales figures are likely to increase by around 30% this time as compared to last year.
They are optimistic about sales of Rs 1,000-1,200 crore and said there is a lot of demand for gold and silver jewellery, along with electronic items. SK Jain, president of the sector, said, “There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the market and we are hopeful that this Diwali, starting with Dhanteras, will do good business. Sales are likely to be higher than last year.” 18 Market Association.
Jain, who is also convener of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Delhi-NCR, said the demand for gold is almost the same as it was before the pandemic hit. “India’s gold demand grew by nearly 50% year-on-year in the July-September quarter,” he said, adding that silver and electronic items are also on demand.
According to Jain, so far this festive season, the sale of gold jewelery in Noida has been around Rs 250 crore. The sales figures for electronic items are around Rs 200 crore and for clothing around Rs 100 crore. “The sales figures for other gift items are around Rs 200 crore. We have also seen the sale of utensils and the figure is Rs 50 crores, for decorative items the number is around Rs 50 crores and furniture sales are Rs 150 crores. For other items, the total sales figure is Rs 250 crore. Overall, we expect sales of Rs 1,000-1,200 crore this time. Last year, it was Rs 800-1,000 crore.
Sagar, a local resident, said this year people are more interested in shopping. “I bought some furniture, jewelery and other items,” he said.
