Not afraid of agencies issued by the government, will continue to raise public issues: Congress

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said the party executed a successful succession plan and a new party president was elected democratically.

The Congress on Tuesday said it is not intimidated by the agencies and police unleashed against it by the government and will continue to raise questions on people’s issues.

The party also said that its recently concluded plenary session has put forth an agenda to counter the BJP with like-minded parties.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said the party executed a successful succession plan and a new party president was elected democratically. He hit out at the government for forcing it to withdraw the farm laws and forcing it to come on the backfoot on the CAA laws, he claimed.

“We have taken on the government from the streets to Parliament and have effectively played the role of opposition by raising issues of public importance. Agencies have been put after us in an unbridled manner and police brutality has been unleashed against not only our workers but also our top leadership.

“But neither their agency nor its ‘impotent’ police can scare or intimidate us. We will keep raising our voices. We are not afraid of them,” Shrinate told reporters.

Shrinet said that the party has fought with the farmers and has ensured that the farm laws are repealed. Congress took to the streets against price rise, unemployment and brutal crimes against women.

“Whenever we hit the streets, the government has unleashed its agencies and police against us. Who is afraid of your agencies? Maybe you are but we are not. “We are the only political party which has been continuously targeting the government regarding the Adani scam. There is a corporate group that is embroiled in allegations of stock manipulation, stock rigging and alleged benami money coming in from shell companies and the government wants to look the other way,” Shrinate said.

It has also ensured that the youth are at the forefront of decision making, she said.

“Congress is the only party which never compromised with BJP and RSS and its disgusting politics. Our leaders have openly expressed their willingness to work with like-minded political parties to preserve and protect the Constitution India And to address economic inequality, crony capitalism, deepening political dictatorship and BJP’s divisive agenda,” she said.

“Elections in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana will be fought with gusto and our victory will set the tone for next year’s general elections,” he said.

Noting that the Congress president was elected by over 9,000 delegates, Shrinate said, “It gives me immense pride and no other political party, including the BJP, can claim to have held a strong, fair and free election for its president’s post.” Could Shrinate said that the Congress has opposed the rules and flawed laws of the present government and forced them to withdraw.
