Shearer feels that Manchester United star Rashford has looked moody and very unhappy while on the pitch for the Red Devils and it might have taken a toll on his performance.
Former English footballer Alan Shearer feels Marcus Rashford has not been quite happy this season while playing for Manchester United. Rashford has failed to make his presence felt in the last 12 appearances for the Premier League club across competitions.
In a recent interaction with Premier League productions, Shearer underlined the possible reason behind Rashford’s below-par form this season. According to the football pundit, Rashford has looked “moody” and “very unhappy” while on the pitch and it might have taken a toll on his performance. Shearer feels Rashford has appeared in a more composed version while representing England in international tournaments.

Analysing Rashford’s current form in club football, Alan Shearer said, “I think the simple answer is we don’t know because we are not within the football club. But what we’re looking at is someone who looks very unhappy. He looks moody, and when that’s the case, you are never going to perform at your best. He looks a different player for England than he does for Manchester United.”
Rashford was a player to watch in the Manchester United attacking third last season. He took his game to another level under the guidance of boss Erik Ten Hag. In his 56 appearances, Rashford netted a total of 30 goals. His remarkable performance helped the 26-year-old sign a new, long-term contract with Manchester United last summer. The deal will see him earn £400k per week and keep him at Old Trafford till 2028.
Rashford, however, failed to replicate the performance this season, with Manchester United going through a lean patch as well. The England international has already played 16 games at club level this season and managed to record one goal and three assists.
“Whether he feels let down by recruitment because he went to another level in terms of his goals last year. Manchester United haven’t gone to it this season which maybe he wanted or expected to. You’re not seeing a happy footballer. You are not seeing a happy person at this moment in time in Marcus Rashford,” Alan Shearer explained.
In line with Manchester United’s poor performance, the club is reportedly planning to oust Erik Ten Hag from the managerial role. According to a recent report by the Times, ex-Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim have secured a spot in the two-man shortlist drafted by the Old Trafford hierarchy. In their upcoming assignment, Manchester United will take on Everton for a Premier League clash on November 26.
