Notification ready to hand over Thammanam-Pullepady Road to Public Works Department

The Kochi Corporation has published a draft notification to hand over the Thammanam-Pullepady road to the Public Works Department (PWD), after preparing a list of plots that would be free to widen the road to a four-lane corridor. The charges were surrendered and the plots which were acquired after paying compensation. Along with the widening, the road will be extended up to Padma Junction on MG Road and Chakkarparambu on NH Bypass.

The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) is expected to release the funds to the Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB), the implementing agency, which will develop the road after the final notification for handing over the stretch to the PWD is ready. The Design Wing of PWD had prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the widening and expansion of 4 km road. It is learned that the proposed flyover at Katharikadavu Junction may be modified keeping in view the need.

There were two main constraints in getting KIIFB funds – first, the corporation not formally handing over the road to the PWD, and second, the delay in finalization of the DPR.

Taking cognizance of this, Mayor M. Anilkumar directed the then District Collector S. Talked to Suhas and steps were taken to prepare the DPR. After this Shri Anilkumar, MP Hibi Eden, MLA TJ Vinod and District Collector Zafar Malik visited the site.
