Now, Zoom In While Watching YouTube Videos: Here’s How

Google’s video platform YouTube has announced many new features for its users. The company is revamping the YouTube app with several features that provide a more modern and immersive viewing experience while improving the way users watch videos. Features were announced by youtube via a blog post. “YouTube celebrated its 17th birthday earlier this year and we wondered if it was time to give it a small makeover”, the company writes in the post.

Precise search, a pretty deep theme and pinch to zoom are just a few of the features coming to the YouTube app and desktop. Let’s take a look at them one by one

come grow up

With Pinch to Zoom, users will now be able to zoom in and out of a video easily. The feature will be available for both iOS or Android phone apps. Google says that the video will be zoomed in unless prompted, so you can enjoy the rest of the video in more detail.

exact demand

Precise search is the most notable feature for YouTube. This feature will allow users to press and hold on the screen to view the visual timeline of the video. Swiping it up or down will display a row of thumbnails in the video player, enabling users to ‘make fine adjustments to get the exact portion in each video’. This feature will come in handy for users watching tutorials or educational videos on your phone.

“Precise Demand is based on our recent improvements to video navigation that helps you quickly find the parts you’re most interested in. We’ve made the player long-press anywhere to search and skip chapters. Launched the ability to double tap with two fingers. We’ve also added a graph that shows the repeated moments in a video”, the post mentioned.

The additional feature coming to YouTube is Ambient Mode with Dynamic Color Sampling. Ambient Mode introduces a subtle effect so that the app background color adapts to match the video. This feature will be available in dark theme on web and mobile. “We were inspired by the light that creeps out the screen in a dark room and wanted to recreate the effect so that the audience is drawn directly into the content and the video focuses even more on our viewing page” , Google said while introducing this feature. YouTube has also updated the dark theme to “go darker so the colors really pop on your screen.” It will be rolled out on web, mobile and smart TVs.
