Berhampur : Ganjam district administration has decided to depute volunteers National service Scheme ,NSSIn polling stations to help the elderly, disabled persons and others during the voting Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BEMC) elections are to be held on March 24.
“We have already urged the District Education Officer (DEO) to depute some NSS volunteers to assist the elderly voters,” said V Kirti Vasan, election officer-cum-deputy collector, Berhampur. Sources said that apart from NSS volunteers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers will also assist pregnant women and handicapped on the day of polling.
The district administration has also decided to deploy only women personnel at five polling stations in municipal corporation areas, three booths in municipal areas and one polling station each. notified area council ,NAC) regions.
