Actors Nusrat Jahan and Yash Dasgupta have revealed that it was their “mutual decision” to keep the child after he told her she was pregnant. Nusrat Jahan welcomed a baby boy on 26 August, but did not reveal the father’s name at the time. She and her estranged husband Nikhil Jain had parted ways a few months back.
Speaking to a leading daily, Yash said that he wanted to have a child but left the final decision to Nusrat. “I didn’t budge when she told me. I just asked her if she wanted to move on with it. It’s not my body — it’s hers. She had to decide. I told her I’d stand by her regardless of her decision.” Will never leave. I wanted to have a child but could not impose my decision on her. She even told me that if you have nothing to do with the child, no problem, I will keep the child. ”
Nusrat said, ‘He did not panic at all. It was a mutual decision. We didn’t care what the world would think. I knew they would either call me strong or call me by name.” Yash added, “I could have my own reasons for having a child. But, tell me, what did the people who were talking about us expect? That I leave a pregnant woman to myself? Would it be fair in the eyes of the world to do so?”
Earlier this year, Nusrat Jahan had said in a statement that her marriage to Nikhil was not valid under Indian law. Nusrat Jahan and Nikhil Jain had two wedding ceremonies in Bodrum, Turkey in 2019. After their separation, Nusrat Jahan and Yash Dasgupta often made headlines for their romance.
