Odisha Board student dies by suicide after class 12 results

Rohan Gurung secured 49 per cent marks in the Odisha HS exam, the result of which was declared by the Council of Higher Secondary Education on Wednesday.

A student is suspected to have committed suicide after being depressed about his marks in his Class 12 examination in western Odisha’s Sambalpur city. The police gave this information on Thursday. Rohan Gurung secured 49 percent marks Result in Annual HS Exam of which was declared by Higher Secondary Council education (CHSE) Odisha on Wednesday.

A police officer said that Gurung, a resident of Dhipapara under Burla police station area, was a science student at Gangadhar Meher Junior College in Sambalpur. “He was depressed because of the result. He was not in the house on Wednesday evening,” said Gurung’s brother.

When he did not return till 9.30 pm, the family members searched for Gurung and found him hanging from a bar behind a toilet in the backyard of the house. Gurung was immediately taken to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, where he was declared brought dead.
