BHUBANESWAR: Students will be assessed for the Matriculation or High School Certificate (HSC) examination this year in three different modes. Marks and grades will be awarded based on the best of three results. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra made this announcement here on Friday.

As per the findings of the meeting reported by BSE, Summative Assessment-II (SA-II) Examination for Matriculation students will be conducted through offline mode from 29th April to 6th May to evaluate the performance of the students during the second half. Will. course duration. This year Summative Assessment-I (SA-I) was conducted for four days starting from January 5. In addition, internal assessment tests have been conducted during the course period.

BSE finally suggested that the evaluation of matriculation students would be done in three different ways. As per the first method, the weightage of SA-I will be doubled along with the internal assessment for the results. In the second method, the weightage of SA-II will be doubled to get the result.

The third method is an alternative evaluation. In this, 30 percent of SA-I, 20 percent of internal assessment and 50 percent of SA-II will be taken. Subject wise marks and grades will be awarded on the basis of best three results.

If a student has 57 in Mathematics in the first method, 52 in the second method and 54 in the third method of evaluation, he will get the highest marks according to the first method. “After scoring the subject-wise highest marks, a final table will be prepared to get the final result of the student,” official sources said.

The Chief Secretary said that keeping in view the situation of Kovid and to reduce the pressure of examination from the minds of the students, this decision has been taken. It is mandatory for the students to take the SA-II exam through offline mode in their own schools. Teachers from other schools will be engaged to manage the examination. If it is not possible to conduct the examination in a school, then its students will take the matriculation examination in the nearby schools. He said that BSE will soon issue guidelines on this.

He said that keeping in mind the summer season, the examination will start from 8 am. There will be one topic per day. He said that the board should try to complete the examination as soon as possible without giving much gap between the two examinations.

Last year the board published the result of matriculation by adopting an alternative method of evaluation. Last time no examination was conducted for matriculation students due to rising number of Covid-19 cases.
