Mallick, who is currently the state government’s chief whip in the state assembly, had allegedly told people during campaigning in Zone-27 of Jajpur district on Thursday that they would not get the benefit of any government scheme as they would not vote. . After a video of the meeting went viral and complaints from some quarters, Jajpur District Collector Chakraborty Singh Rathore had issued a show-cause notice to Malik. Action has been taken on the basis of Malik’s reply on the show cause notice.

This is the first time during the ongoing Panchayat elections that the State Election Commission has barred a senior leader of any political party from campaigning for violating the model code of conduct.
