Official objection of Delhi University on Rahul Gandhi’s DU visit, says ‘not allowed’

The proctor of Delhi University on Friday objected to Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the university campus, saying the Congress leader violated security protocols and did not seek permission from anyone. The officer raised concerns about the responsibility of any untoward incident to a person with Z+ security.

,Rahul Gandhi During the DU campus tour, there was a breach in security because he did not even take permission from anyone. They should at least notify the proctor’s office. You have Z+ security. Who will be responsible if something happens by mistake?” Rajni Abbi, Proctor DU told news agency ANI.

The official said the Congress leader arrived at lunch time, due to which there was a gathering of people at the place. He said that many students complained that they did not get food due to the leader’s visit.

“Our objection is that Rahul Gandhi visited Delhi University unauthorisedly. This is not a public place that you have reached by roaming around. You arrive at lunch time, during that time food is cooked only for 75 people, sometimes 5-7 people reach more but you come and with the crowd that comes there, who are not even students, hijack the whole situation Let’s do it. They are outsiders. It is not good that this causes problems to the hostel students. The students have given a written complaint that they did not get food.”

Rajni Abbi insisted that the university will not be used as a political arena and such things are not allowed on the campus.

“We don’t want to make the university a political arena. So all these things will not be allowed in the university and we will take action against whoever is responsible for this.”

The university official’s reaction came after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit to Delhi University’s postgraduate men’s hostel on Friday. The leader also had lunch with the students and interacted with them about their issues and future career plans.

Notable that, Proctor Rajni Abbi is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has also served as the Mayor of Delhi from 2011 to 2012.
