Ludhiana: The Vigilance Bureau, while probing the embezzlement of streetlight funds worth Rs 65 lakh, has found that the lights installed in the villages of Sidhwan Bet are of inferior quality than the approved lighting. Vigilance teams including technical experts are doing physical verification of street lights.
The bureau has already disclosed that the authorities have paid almost double the approved rates for street lights. Further, a completion certificate of the work was prepared despite the fact that all 26 villages had not even installed lights.
