Okinawa Autotech’s electric scooter sales cross 1 lakh in India

Okinawa achieved the domestic sales figure with its high-speed and low-speed models, with the iPraise+ and Praise Pro electric scooters accounting for around 60-70 per cent of annual sales.

Gurugram Based Okinawa Autotech, one of the oldest players in the electric two-wheeler segment, has achieved a new milestone with the Indian market crossing the 100,000 sales mark. The company achieved domestic sales figures with its high-speed and low-speed models, with the iPraise+ and Praise Pro electric scooters contributing around 60-70 per cent of the annual volume. The company says that it is the second largest selling electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the country after Hero Electric.

Okinawa says it has expanded its dealership network to over 400 outlets in Tier II, III and rural markets to meet growing demand. The company recently launched Okinawa Galaxy, a premium experience center in Uttarakhand, to provide a premium and futuristic experience to potential customers. The company plans to open around 50 more Galaxy stores across the country in the coming year.

The iPraise and Praise Pro electric scooters account for about 60-70 percent of Okinawa sales.

As part of its expansion plan, Okinawa has announced an investment of Rs 500 crore over the next three years. The first phase will see an investment of ₹250 crore in the first year and will gradually increase in the coming years. The company says it has its own assembly line for the motor and controls, making it the first of its kind in the industry. The company plans to achieve almost 100 percent localization by manufacturing battery packs locally as well. The import of battery cells will continue. Okinawa has also confirmed that it plans to launch a new high-speed electric scooter in the first quarter of 2022.
