Ola CEO shares updates on electric scooter test ride, delivery date

Ola chief and co-founder Bhavish Agarwal on Sunday shared important details about the electric scooter test ride and the much-awaited delivery of the Ola e-scooter. In a Twitter post, Bhavish also shared a video which features stunt experts on Ola’s electric scooter.

While sharing the video on the microblogging website, the CEO of Ola Electric wrote, “Have some fun with the scooter!

Bhavish also updated on the test ride and delivery details, “The test ride starts in the coming week and the first delivery starts soon thereafter,”

Ola has not yet given a specific date for the start of deliveries of the scooter.

Ola Electric started the process of selling its electric scooter S1 in September. The electric scooter, which comes in two trims – Ola S1 and S1 – is currently available for purchase on the Ola app and not the website.

On August 15, the company introduced its Ola S1 electric scooter in two variants – S1 and S1 Pro. 99,999 and 1,29,999, respectively (ex-showroom including FAME II subsidy and excluding state subsidy). Ola Electric started pre-launch bookings for its electric scooters in July 499 and 1 lakh orders were received in just 24 hours. However, the company has not disclosed how many orders it has received so far.

Ola is setting up a manufacturing plant spread over 500 acres in Tamil Nadu.

The company had said that it would initially start with an annual production capacity of 10 lakh and then increase it to 20 lakh in the first phase to meet the market demand. When fully completed, Ola Electric had claimed that its plant would have an annual capacity of 10 million units, “which is 15 per cent of the world’s total two-wheeler production”.
